The first annual Clermont Reggae Festival was held at RasState, in Clermont, Florida on May 20th 2023. It was my first time in Clermont and at this venue but it was a pleasant experience. Approaching the area of Clermont, I was greeted with beautiful hills and landscape— the venue was situated on a lake, with beautiful views of the water and sunset.
The event offered free parking and entry – something that might not be available in future years, but I was grateful for that while it’s available. Attendees included a mixture of Caribbean people, as well of persons from the diaspora and other supporters and lovers of Reggae Music.
There were 8 – 10 vendors with a variety of fresh fruits and vegetables as well as Ital Foods and Clothing options! Performances included the IHeritage Band, Jah Verse & Dean Kulcha with musical entertainment by DJ Gervis.
The event spanned from an afternoon of family-fun, with children enjoying different games together to everyone moving to the sounds of the live bands and beautiful vocals of the artists on stage. While the Clermont Reggae Fest has much room to grow, I look forward to the next event as I see it only getting bigger and even better! By the way –remember to bring out your lawn chairs next year!
